FOOT CARE

Why is foot health important?

Feet keep us grounded and connected to the earth and keeping them in healthy is essential to maintaining overall wellbeing. Our feet allow us to walk, stay balanced & stable and perform many of the activities we love - all important functions if we want to stay independent and vital. They can also tell us a lot about a person's general health and their risk for conditions like diabetes or arthritis.

Foot assessments and regular foot care not only help with calluses, corns and troublesome toenails; they prevent and detect more complex issues like diabetic ulcers, infections and risk for falls so you can continue to walk through life freely and as symptom-free as possible.

Who is at risk for developing foot problems?

Foot care is especially important if any of the following apply to you:

- Medical conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, neuropathy (nerve issues) or poor circulation

- Participating in high-impact sports that involve a lot of running & jumping

-  A job that requires you to stand for prolonged periods of time

- Walking on hard surfaces regularly

- Poor-fitting footwear

- Being overweight

- Smoking

- Older age

- Foot deformities and/or previous injuries
